Bone and thyroid
We have identified a novel pathway in bone that is important for skeletal development and bone turnover and which involves thyroid hormone regulation of the fibroblast growth factor / heparan sulphate / fibroblast growth factor receptor signalling complex. The aims of the research project are to determine how T3 regulates expression and activity of FGFRs and heparan sulphate proteoglycans (HSPGs) and to investigate the hypothesis that T3 regulates FGFR signalling by modification of HSPG structure.
